Stone Mountain

Went to Stone Mountain State Park for my long run Sunday. It’s only about 20 minutes from the house – suburban, but my side of town. It is a perfect 5 mile loop around the worlds 3rd largest monolith (did not know that – and it’s practically in the city!). The path is paved, but restricted to one way traffic for about half of its length, the other lane being pedestrian & bicycles only. That half is beautiful, serene and quiet. Wooded with glimpses of a lake through the trees. Postcard weather added to the atmosphere of driving down a country lane. The front half on the other hand is crowded, and runners are relegated to sidewalks or shoulders.
Next time I’ll switch back & forth on the scenic side of the rock. Maybe try the trails. 6.5 miles.
