Soyjoy bars: I think if you soak it in a gallon of water for a day, it swells into Christmas fruitcake.

Run report: The conservative-because-my-training-has-been-slipping plan was to hold a 9:00 minute mile, and then kick it up for the last 2 miles. Was doing good with a 8:30 time, but started getting side & shoulder stitches around mile 4. The One Big Hill is at 4.5, so that didn’t help. The last 2 miles were harder & slower than the first 4, but still eeked out a 8:45/mile final time. My pedometer was way off (me:5.9mi; course:6.2mi – ergo no splits to post) , so I was running faster than my watch indicated. In general I prefer a long finish straightaway, so you can kick within sight of the finish line. On this one you turn a corner in “downtown” Atlantic Station, and you are 50 feet from the finish.
Overall satisfied, considering. Need to rededicate myself to training more consistently. Also entering a dry spell of races to enter for the next few months. Everybody is doing 5ks now, it seems.
